Romantic Rafi’s Gem: Hosh ke saahil pe mujh ko ab naa aane deejiye

Roman Transliteration/English Translation of the original Urdu-Hindi Lyrics:

hmmm…oh~~~~hmmm…oh~~~~oh~~~

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye,
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW,

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye,
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW,

aaj toh bas, mastiyo.n me.n….
JUST IN DRUNKENNESS TODAY…

aaj toh, bas mastiyo.n, me.n Doob jaane, deejiye,
JUST IN DRUNKENNESS, LET ME DROWN TODAY,

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye…
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW…

aap ko bhee hai Khabar yeh, kyaa nasheelaa daur hai,
YOU’RE AWARE WHAT AN INTOXICATING PHASE IT IS!

aap ko bhee hai Khabar yeh, kyaa nasheelaa daur hai,
YOU’RE AWARE WHAT AN INTOXICATING PHASE IT IS!

aaj kaa yeh khushnumaa, maahaul hee, kuchh aur hai,
SOMETHING ELSE IS THIS JOYOUS AMBIENCE TODAY,

chaandnee me.n, husn kee oh…,
OH IN BEAUTY’S MOONBEAM!

chaandnee me.n husn kee, jee bhar nahaane, deejiye,
IN BEAUTY’S MOONBEAM, LET ME BATHE TO MY HEART’S CONTENT,

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye…
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW…

khushbuuo.n kee jhoomkar, aisee lagaa, deejiye jha.dee,
BY SWAYING, LAUNCH SUCH A CASCADE OF FRAGRANCE,

khushbuuo.n kee jhoomkar, aisee lagaa deejiye jha.dee,
BY SWAYING, LAUNCH SUCH A CASCADE OF FRAGRANCE

mai.n karoo.n, mehsoos kyaa hai, zindagee kee yeh gha.dee,
THAT I MAY FEEL WHAT THIS MOMENT OF LIFE IS,

reshmee, zulfo.n ko mujh par,
THE SILKEN TRESSES OVER ME…

reshmee, zulfo.n ko mujh, par aaj chhaane, deejiye,
LET THE SILKEN TRESSES SPREAD OVER ME,

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye…
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW…

aaj aa.nchal kee naa koee, beech me.n deewaar ho,
LET THERE BE NO SCREEN OF THE VEIL IN BETWEEN TODAY,

aaj aa.nchal kee naa koee, beech me.n deewaar ho,
LET THERE BE NO SCREEN OF THE VEIL IN BETWEEN TODAY,

har adaa me.n aaj bas, iqraar hee iqraar ho,
LET THERE BE ONLY ACCEPTANCE IN EVERY ACTION TODAY,

Khud ko khokar, aaj mujh ko,
BY LOSING MYSELF, LET ME TODAY…

Khud ko khokar, aaj mujh, ko kuchh toh paane, deejiye,
BY LOSING MYSELF, LET ME FIND AT LEAST SOMETHING TODAY,

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye,
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW,

aaj toh bas, mastiyo.n me.n,
JUST IN DRUNKENNESS TODAY…

aaj toh, bas mastiyo.n, me.n Doob jaane, deejiye,
JUST IN DRUNKENNESS, LET ME DROWN TODAY,

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye,
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW,

hosh ke, saahil pe mujh ko, ab naa aane deejiye,
DON’T LET ME COME TO THE SHORE OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOW.

NASIR

You keep me
Drowning in your love
Everytime I try to rise above
I'm swept away by love
Baby I can't help it
You keep me
Drowning in your love

  1. Wah wah!!!! What an intoxicating song. Main toh khud is gaane mein kho gayi :-)
Was in a trainging for the last 2 weeks and I really missed coming here.
Of late I have been listening a lot to Deewana kehke aaj hume (Mulzim), Chehre se aapne aaj toh (Palki) and Zulf bikhrati chali aayi ho (Ek Kali Muskayi - couldn't find this one here).
All thanks to vividh bharati and your blog...I heard the songs on radio first on chhaya geet, but neither knew which movies they were from nor their full lyrics.

  2. I hope the training went off well for you.
There are lots of romantic songs that I haven't touched so far. Zulf bikhraatee Chalee Aayee Ho could probably be my next one. These two days I was busy with writing of articles on Milad un-Nabwi (last two posts).
I'm so glad you're are enjoying the lyrics and I do feel my efforts to be worthwhile.

  3. Yes, the training was good, but exhausting as well.
I know, there are so many songs. I'm glad and grateful that you are making them popular by putting them up here.
And yes, you are doing a fab job here :-)

  6. Aslam Bhai, I have made a correction that you will see in the post. Details are not available. I have finally settled for Ravindra Jain as the MD.
Again, it seems certain that it was Yogesh who wrote the lyrics and Rafi Sahaab recorded this on 10th July 1980, i.e. 21 days before he left for the heavenly abode.
The year 1989 is also correct to a certain extent since it was released much after 1987 which was the year of passing away of Kishore Da who too has a song in the same movie. I couldnt get the info on the film cast and crew.

If you have more info on the subject, please share with us.
