PART 4: TRYING TIMES FOR SUNNIS AND SUFIS.

TRYING TIMES FOR TRADITIONAL SUNNIS AND SUFIS:
From the Layman’s Desk-15:
Part  4  continued….

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, MOST BENEFICIENT, MOST MERCIFUL.
When we come to speak of the people of understanding it means those Muslims of the Ahl as-Sunnah wal Jama’ah  whose beliefs will be in accordance with the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wasallam) and the beliefs of the Sahaba and the Salaf-as-Saaliheen.  Conversely, it also means staying away from the misguided groups whose beliefs would be in contradiction with those of the largest groups of Muslims.  The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ” In the period prior to the Day of Judgment, false and deceitful groups will emerge. They will say things to you, which neither you nor your forefathers will have ever heard before. Stay away from these deceitful people and do not let them come near you! Do not be misguided by them and do not let them cause strife amongst you!” (Sahih Muslim)

For knowing who these people are and who will cause misguidance and strife, let’s turn to only a few more Ahadith:

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:  The Prophet said, "I have been made victorious with As-Saba (i.e. an easterly wind) and the people of 'Ad were destroyed by Ad-Dabur (i.e. a westerly wind)." Narrated Abu Said: Ali sent a piece of gold to the Prophet who distributed it among four persons: Al-Aqra' bin Habis Al-Hanzali from the tribe of Mujashi, 'Uyaina bin Badr Al-Fazari, Zaid At-Ta'i who belonged to (the tribe of) Bani Nahban, and 'Alqama bin Ulatha Al-'Amir who belonged to (the tribe of) Bani Kilab. So the Quraish and the Ansar became angry and said, "He (i.e. the Prophet, ) gives the chief of Najd and does not give us." The Prophet said, "I give them) so as to attract their hearts (to Islam)." Then a man with sunken eyes, prominent checks, a raised forehead, a thick beard and a shaven head, came (in front of the Prophet ) and said, "Be afraid of Allah, O Muhammad!" The Prophet ' said "Who would obey Allah if I disobeyed Him? (Is it fair that) Allah has trusted all the people of the earth to me while, you do not trust me?" Somebody who, I think was Khalid bin Al-Walid, requested the Prophet to let him chop that man's head off, but he prevented him. When the man left, the Prophet said, "Among the off-spring of this man will be some who will recite the Qur'an but the Qur'an will not reach beyond their throats, and they will be renegade from the religion as an arrow goes through the game's body. They will kill the Muslims but will not disturb the idolaters. If I should live up to their time' I will kill them as the people of 'Ad were killed (i.e. I will kill all of them)."[Bukhari Book 55, Hadith 558]

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: The Prophet said, "There will emerge from the East (Najd) some people who will recite the Qur'an but it will not exceed their throats and who will go out of (renounce) the religion (Islam) as an arrow passes through the game, and they will never come back to it unless the arrow, comes back to the middle of the bow (by itself) (i.e., impossible). The people asked, "What will their signs be?" He said, "Their sign will be the habit of shaving (their heads). [Bukhari Book 93 Hadith 651]

It is a historical fact that ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi used to have his head shaved, and the wahhabis are known for following this action of their Shaykh.  Thus the Wahhabis are the descendents from the tribe of Bani Tamim.

That the Najd region lies to the East of Madinah Munawwara can be proven from some of the following ahadith:

Narrated Salim's father:
The Prophet stood up beside the pulpit (and pointed with his finger towards the East) and said, "Afflictions are there! Afflictions are there, from where the side of the head of Satan comes out," or said, "...the side of the sun.."..[Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 88, Number 212]

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
I heard Allah's Apostle while he was facing the East, saying, "Verily! Afflictions are there, from where the side of the head of Satan comes out."[ Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 88, Number 213]

Ibn 'Umar reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) stood by the door (of the apartment of) Hafsa and, pointing towards the east (najd), he said: The turmoil would appear from this side, viz. where the horns of Satan would appear, and he uttered these words twice or thrice and Ubaidullah b. Sa'ld in his narration said. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) had been standing by the door of 'A'isha. [Sahih Muslim Book 41 Hadith 6939]

Ibn Umar reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) came out of the house of A’isha and said: It would be from this side that there would appear the height of unbelief, viz., where appear the horns of Satan, i.e. East. [Sahih Muslim, Vol.IV, Hadith 6941]

Geographically speaking, to the East of Madinah Munawwara lies the region of Najd.  That it is the region of Najd that the Holy Prophet (sal Allahu Alayhi wasallam) is referring to can be ascertained from the following Hadith Shareef:
Narrated Ibn 'Umar: (The Prophet) said, "O Allah! Bless our Shaam and our Yemen." People said, "Our Najd as well." The Prophet again said, "O Allah! Bless our Shaam and Yemen." They said again, "Our Najd as well." On that the Prophet said, "There will appear earthquakes and afflictions, and from there will come out the side of the head of Satan." (Book #17, Hadith #147, Bukhari)  In other words, the Holy Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wasallam) did not pray for the people of Najd and we can be sure that no good is going to come out of that as it is neither blessed nor a good place but one of Fitna and evil. Najd has the seal of misery and misfortune and hoping for any good from there is going against the Will of Allah.
As the the late Shaykh al-Ghimmari has demonstrated in his Ihya al-Maqbur (p.59-60): “And nothing has emerged from there to bring about earthquakes and Fitnahs in the religion like Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, who was astray and led others astray.  Hence he was the Devil's Horn foretold by the Messenger (upon him be blessings and peace), and he abstained from offering prayer for Najd because of him, and because of the Fitnahs which would flow from his demonic da'wa. Whoever adheres to that da'wa has committed unambiguous kufr, and is destined for apostasy and 'swerving from the religion', as is visible in the case of the other mulhids [heretical unbelievers] of the age who are notorious for their ilhad, for in every case they began by holding fast to the sect of the Devil's Horn, as is well-known to scholars of experience and insight.”  The Shaykh [May Allah (swt) grant him Jannatul Firdaus ] therefore advises: “So fear God, and do not be like he who is beguiled by them and supports their corrupt sect and worthless opinion, and their state of misguidance which was explicitly described by the Prophet (upon whom be blessings and peace), who characterised them as the 'Dogs of the Fire' [kilab al-nar], and informed us that they are the 'worst of all who dwell beneath the sky', and that they 'swerve from the religion as an arrow swerves away from its target,' and that they mouth among the best of sayings in the form of their prattlings about Tawhid, and implementing the Sunna, and combating bid'as - and yet, by Allah, they are drowning in Bid'a; in fact, there is no Bid'a worse than theirs, which causes them to 'swerve from the religion as an arrow swerves away from its target', in spite of their superficial efforts in worship and adherence to the religion. It is as the Prophet (upon whom be blessings and peace) declared: 'one of you would despise the prayer he says among them, and the fasting he completes with them; they recite Qur'an but it goes no further than their collarbones.'”  Najd lies to the east of Madinah Munawwara and this has not been blessed by Allah with any Wali (Muslim Saint) or Salih (Righteous, Pious soul) since the beginning of Islam down to the present day.  In fact, the Holy Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wasallam) had said about them in a Sahih Hadith narrated by al-Bukhari:  The people of the east are rude and bad mannered… whereas al-Imaan (the correct faith) and good qualities  are with the people of Hijaz.”   The Wahhabis  oppose this hadith, as when they are in Makkah Shareef and in Madinah Munawwara they feel very disturbed and unsettled because Tawassul and Tabarruk are constantly being practised there, and when they betake themselves to al-Riyadh, they say: “Alhamdullilah, we have reached the place where Iman is.”  In short, all those Sahih ahadith cannot be mentioned here but they certainly point out to the fact that these are the people who will recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their throats, and with all these apparent virtues they will leave the fold of Deen just like the arrow leaves the bow. Also referring to Zul Khuwaisara of the Banu Tamim tribe, the Holy Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wasallam had said: "From his progeny will rise a Group who will recite the Holy Qur’an but it will not go below their throats. They will leave the Deen just as an arrow leaves the bowstring. They will kill the Muslims but spare the idolaters. If I ever confronted these people I would slaughter them just as the people of Aad had been destroyed" (Mishkat Shareef, pp/535). Now, what else does one need to know about the people of misguidance, heresy and Bid’ah!

If you take time to ponder from the historical point of view, you will find that wahhabism is not at all a religious or revivalist movement but rather a sheer opportunistic political movement that was formulated and advanced by declaring the other Muslims as Kuffar and Mushrikeen so as to legitimize the Wahhabis/ Salafis in their actions of murdering the Sunnis and the Shias, usurping their landed and moveable properties, and enslaving and killing their women and children.

Muhammad ibn al-Wahhab forged an alliance with the tribal Chief of the Diriya Village, Muhammad ibn Saud, whose daughter he married, and together they declared the surrounding lands were Dar al-Harb (Abode of War) that were occupied by non-Muslims and, therefore, those Muslims’ lives, property and women were ‘Halal’ for them.      Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Sulaymaan al-Kurdi and Shaykh Muhammad al-Sindi who both recognized the  stubbornness and refusal of  Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab an-Najdi to respect scholarly authority said about him “Allah will allow this one to be led astray, miserable are the ones who are misled by him.”  Both of these teachers eventually combined with Sulaymaan Ibn Abdul Wahhab - the brother of Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdul Wahhab -  to write the classical text al-Sawaa’iq al-Ilahiyah fi ar-radd ‘ala al-Wahhabiyah in which his teacher wrote “Dall mudlil”, i.e. he [Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdul Wahhab] is “misguided and misguiding”.  In Sawaa’iq al-Ilahiyah.. Shaykh Sulaiman bin Abdul Wahhab said about his brother:  “The horn of Shaytan which the Prophet (Sal Allahu alayhi wasallam) referred to is you.”   Muhammad Amin Ibn Abidin wrote in his celebrated work ‘Hashiyya Radd Al-Mukhtar’ (Vol. 3, Page 309): “In our time Ibn Abdul Wahhab Najdi appeared and attacked the two noble sanctuaries (Makkah and Madinah).  He claimed to be a Hanbali, but his thinking was such that only he alone was a Muslim, and everyone else was a polytheist! Under this guise, he said that killing the Ahle Sunnah was permissible”.  And the history of Najd bears testimony to the fact that many many innocent Sunni scholars  who refused to convert to Wahhabism were slaughtered by the Wahhabis who did not care for the many ahadith that say that he who take up arms against us is not one of us; or do not revert to Kufr (disbelief) by striking the necks of one another;  or that  Prophet said, "None of you should point out towards his Muslim brother with a weapon, for he does not know, Satan may tempt him to hit him and thus he would fall into a pit of fire (Hell)" (Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 88, Number 193).   It must be  recognized  that Islam called upon all Muslims, regardless of their race or nationality, to see themselves as brothers in faith. The killing of another Muslim was strictly forbidden.  The Holy Qur’an even mentions that killing one innocent person is equal to the killing of the whole of humanity.  As against this,  the Wahhabis have no compunction in killing the Muslims who don’t follow the Taqleed of the Najdi Shaykh, Ibn Abdul Wahhab!

To continue, Insha Allah.
