BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA
January 20, 2009.
To:
The Honourable BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA
President of the United States of America.
The White House
Washington D.C. 20500
Dear Mr. President,
Congratulations on your assuming the position of the 44th President of the United States of America.
You’ve already gone down in history as the first ever Non-White, African-American President of America. The spirit of Abraham Lincoln must surely be smiling at the culmination of his efforts to abolish slavery and grant emancipation and civil liberties to the Black people there. Now, that was a righteous battle he fought against those who opposed his policies.
Abraham Lincoln was called the Redeemer President. You could also be the Redeemer President in the current scenario. Bush has tarnished the name of America with his wars of aggression in the name of suppressing terrorism. “How to Lose Friends and Antagonise People,” was his reply to Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends...” So was Bush successful? I’m sure the answer is a resounding “NO”. Osama Bin Laden still lurks somewhere out there. The war in Iraq has siphoned off some 3 trillion U.S. Dollars according to some economists. What price –“the benefit?” The wars remained vastly unpopular, with nearly 2/3rd of the Americans saying that the U.S. led invasion was a bad idea. No doubt, then, that George Bush leaves the White House with a dismal record.
You can surely click the undo browser. Undo what Bush has negatively done. Ulysses S. Grant ensured the victories for Abraham Lincoln. Your Secretary of State and the Team can similarly achieve victories for you in the fields of economics and the battle against terrorism and against those who are opposed to world peace. Indeed, we do hear that you will have a new approach to the Afghan and Iraq Wars. Whatever that may be, but it would be advisable to remember that the medicines must cure the patient, not kill him.
Please remember that it’s not just the American people but the entire world community that’s looking up to you as the Saviour of Peace. The world needs that kind of a leader. Pax Americana is up to you. Will it be tough for you to bring peace to the Middle East and rest of the world? Won’t you like to be remembered as the First American President in modern times to bring peace and prosperity not just to the American people but to the world at large. The one guiding factor that can surely help you achieve that is to stick to the sense of justice and fair play in all your undertakings. It’s also for all the other countries to strengthen the President by cooperating with him in the search for and establishment of world peace. Sure, all along the American policies have been to look after its own interests. What could be a greater American interest than securing World Peace?
We only hope that our optimism about you won’t be misfounded.
Here’s then, wishing you all the best for a new world order.
NASIR.
