O~~~~~~O~~~~

jaane waalo.n zaraa~~
O PASSERS-BY! WOULD YOU JUST....

mu.D ke dekho mujhe,
TURN AROUND AND LOOK AT ME,

ek insaan hoo.n,  mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
I’M A HUMAN BEING, LIKE YOU,

jaane waalo.n zaraa,
O PASSERS-BY! WOULD YOU JUST

mu.D ke dekho mujhe,
TURN AROUND AND LOOK AT ME,

ek insaan hoo.n,  mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
I’M A HUMAN BEING, LIKE YOU,

jisne sab ko rachaa,  apne hee roop se,
THE ONE WHO’S CREATED EVERY ONE IN HIS OWN IMAGE,

us kee pehchaan hoo.n,  mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
I’M A SIGN OF HIS RECOGNITION, LIKE YOU,

jaane waalo.n zaraa….
O PASSERS-BY! WOULD YOU JUST...

is anokhe jagat kee mai.n taqdeer hoo.n,
OF THIS STRANGE WORLD, I’M THE DESTINY,

is anokhe jagat kee mai.n taqdeer hoo.n,
OF THIS STRANGE WORLD, I’M THE DESTINY,

mai.n vidhaataa ke haatho.n kee, tasveer hoo.n,
OF THE CREATOR’S OWN HAND, I’M A PICTURE,

ek tasveer hoo.n,
I’M A PICTURE,

is jahaa.n ke liye,
FOR THIS WORLD,

dhartee maa ke liye,
FOR THE MOTHER EARTH

shiv kaa vardaan hoo.n,  mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
A SHIVA’S BOON I’M, LIKE YOU,

jaane waalo.n zaraa…
O PASSERS-BY! WOULD YOU JUST....

mann ke andar chhipaaye milan kee lagan,
HIDING IN MIND, THE LONGING FOR THE UNION,

mann ke andar chhipaaye, milan kee lagan,
HIDING IN MIND, THE LONGING FOR THE UNION,

apne sooraj se hoo.n, ek bichha.Dee kiran,
I’M A STRAY BEAM OF MY SUN,

ek bichha.Dee kiran,
A STRAY BEAM,

phir rahaa hoo.n bhaTaktaa,
BEING ASTRAY, I’M WANDERING ABOUT

mai.n yahaa.n se wahaa.n,
FROM HERE TO THERE,

aur pareshaan hoo.n, mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
AND PERPLEXED AM I, LIKE YOU,

jaane waalo.n zaraa…
O PASSERS-BY! WOULD YOU JUST...

mere paas aao chho.Do yeh, saaraa bharam,
COME TO ME, ABANDON YE ALL MISGIVINGS!

mere paas aao chho.Do yeh, saaraa bharam,
COME TO ME, ABANDON YE ALL MISGIVINGS!

jo meraa dukh vohee, hai tumhaaree bhee gham,
THE SORROWS OF MINE ARE YOUR ANGST TOO,

hai tumhaaraa bhee gham,
ARE YOUR ANGST TOO,

dekhtaa hoo.n tumeh,
I SEE YOU,

jaantaa hoo.n tumeh,
I KNOW YOU,

laakh anjaan hoo.n, mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
MUCH IGNORANT AM  I,  LIKE YOU,

jaane waalo.n zaraa,
O PASSERS-BY! WOULD YOU JUST

mu.D ke dekho mujhe,
TURN AROUND AND LOOK AT ME,

ek insaan hoo.n, mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
I’M A HUMAN BEING, LIKE YOU,

jisne sab ko rachaa, apne hee roop se,
THE ONE WHO HAS CREATED EVERY ONE IN HIS OWN IMAGE,

us kee pehchaan hoo.n, mai.n tumhaaree taraah,
I’M A SIGN OF HIS RECOGNITION, LIKE YOU,

jaane waalo.n zaraa….
O PASSERS-BY! WOULD YOU JUST...

hmmm, hmmm, hmmm. hmmm

  1. Beauty. Another Rafi classic and my favourite movie to boot!

  2. Veen, the mouth-organ piece in this song was R.D. Burman's contribution, which goes to show that RDB and LP must have been pretty close in early Sixties.
