Romantic Rafi’s sublime number: Kahee.n Ek Maasoom Naazuk See La.dkee…

Roman Transliteration/English Translation of the original Urdu Lyrics:

kahee.n ek maasoom naazuk see la.dkee,
SOMEWHERE AN INNOCENT AND A SORT OF DELICATE LASS,

bahot khoobsoorat…haay
OH VERY BEAUTIFUL…

bahot khoobsoorat, magar saa.nvalee see,
VERY BEAUTIFUL BUT A LITTLE TANNED,

bahot khoobsoorat ….
VERY BEAUTIFUL…

mujhe apne Khwaabo.n kee, baaho.n me.n paakar,
FINDING ME IN HER ARMS IN THE DREAMS,

kabhee nee.nd me.n muskuraatee toh hogee,
IN HER SLEEP, SHE MAY SOMETIMES BE SMILING,

usee nee.nd me.n, kasmasaa-kasmasaakar,
IN THAT SLUMBER, BY WRITHING AND FIDGETING,

sarhaane se takiye, giraatee toh hogee,
FROM UNDER HER HEAD, THE PILLOW SHE MAY BE DROPPING,

kahee.n ek maasoom, naazuk see la.dkee,
SOMEWHERE AN INNOCENT AND A SORT OF DELICATE LASS…

vohee Khwaab din ke mu.nDero.n pe aake,
AT THE PARAPET, THE SAME DAY-DREAMS ON COMING,

usse mann hee mann me.n, lubhaate toh ho.nge,
IN THE HEART OF HER HEARTS, THEY MAY BE ENTICING,

kaee saaz seene kee Khaamoshiyo.n me.n,
IN THE STILLNESS OF HER BOSOM, MANY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

meree yaad se, jhanajhanaate toh ho.nge,
WITH MY MEMORY, MAY BE JINGLING,

voh besaaKhtaa, dheeme-dheeme suro.n me.n,
SPONTANEOUSLY, IN A SOFT SUBDUED TONE,

meree dhun me.n kuchh, gun-gunaateee toh hogee,
IN MY TUNE, SOMETHING SHE MAY BE HUMMING,

kahee.n ek maasoom, naazuk see la.dkee,
SOMEWHERE AN INNOCENT AND A SORT OF DELICATE LASS…

chalo khat likhe.n, jee me.n aataa toh hogaa,
“LET’S WRITE AN EPISTLE,” THIS SHE MAY BE DESIRING,

magar u.ngliyaa.n, ka.np-ka.npaatee toh ho.ngee,
BUT THE FINGERS COULD BE TREMBLING,

qalam haath se, chhooT jaataa toh hogaa
OUT OF HER HAND, THE PEN MAY BE SLIPPING,

uma.nge.n, qalam phir uTHaatee toh ho.ngee,
THE PEN, THE LONGINGS MAY BE LIFTING,

meraa naam, apnee kitaabo.n pe likh kar
BY WRITING DOWN MY NAME ON HER BOOKS,

voh daa.nto.n me.n u.ngalee, dabaatee to hogee,
BETWEEN THE TEETH, HER FINGER SHE MAY BE PLACING,

kahee.n, ek maasoom, naazuk see la.dkee,
SOMEWHERE AN INNOCENT AND A SORT OF DELICATE LASS…

zubaa.n se kabhee uff, nikaltee toh hogee,
SOMETIMES, AN ANXIOUS WORD SHE MAY BE UTTERING,

badan dheeme dheeme sulagtaa toh hogaa,
WITH PASSION, HER BODY MAYBE GENTLY CONSUMING,

kahee.n ke kahee.n paa.nv pa.Dte, toh ho.nge
HER STEPS MAY BE FALTERING,

zamee.n par, dupaTTaa laTaktaa toh hogaa,
ON THE FLOOR, THE WRAPPER MAY BE LOOSELY HANGING,

kabhee subah ko, shaam kehtee toh hogee
SOMETIMES, THE MORNING SHE MAY BE CALLING AS THE EVENING,

kabhee raat ko din, bataatee toh hogee,
SOMETIMES, THE NIGHT AS THE DAY, SHE MAY BE ADDRESSING,

kahee.n ek maasoom, naazuk see la.dkee,
SOMEWHERE AN INNOCENT AND A SORT OF DELICATE LASS…

har ek cheez haathon se girtee toh hogee,
EVERYTHING FROM HER HANDS MAY BE FALLING,

tab’iyat pe har kaam, khaltaa toh hoga,
INNATELY REPUGNANT, EVERY CHORE SHE MAY BE FINDING,

paleTe.n kabhee TooT jaatee.n toh ho.ngee,
SOMETIMES, THE PLATES MAY BE BREAKING,

kabhee doodh chulhe pe jaltaa toh hogaa,
SOMETIMES THE MILK ON THE STOVE MAY BE BURNING,

gharaz, apnee maasoom naadaaniyo.n par,
IN SHORT, AT HER OWN INNOCENT NAIVETY

voh naazuk badan, jhep jaatee toh hogee,
THAT DELICATE LASS MAY BE FINDING IT EMBARRASING,

kahee.n ek maasoom, naazuk see la.dkee,
SOMEWHERE AN INNOCENT AND A SORT OF DELICATE LASS,

bahot khoobsoorat, magar sa.nwalee see,
VERY BEAUTIFUL BUT A LITTLE TANNED,

bahot khoobsoorat…
VERY BEAUTIFUL…

mujhe apne Khwaabo.n kee baaho.n me.n paakar,
FINDING ME IN HER ARMS IN THE DREAMS,

kabhee nee.nd me.n muskuraatee to hogee,
IN HER SLEEP MAY SOMETIMES BE SMILING,

usee nee.nd me.n, kasmasaa-kasmasaakar
IN THAT SLUMBER, BY WRITHING AND FIDGETING,

sarhaane se takiye, giraatee toh hogee,
FROM UNDER HER HEAD, THE PILLOW SHE MAY BE DROPPING,

kahee.n ek maasoom, naazuk see la.dkee.
SOMEWHERE AN INNOCENT AND A SORT OF DELICATE LASS…

NASIR

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will love thee still, my Dear,
Till a'the seas gang dry.

  1. Thanks for dropping by my blog. You have an amazing collection of Rafi's songs here. I saw the first one and I was like - WOW!!! But it's already 2AM, I thought I would come back here tomorrow morning and post comments, but something made me scroll down and I saw this one. I just couldn't resist saying that this one of my favourite songs!
