Thank you very much - really appreciate your work
ReplyDeleteWhy not include the song video too?
So the viewers can listen and enjoy your beautiful translations.

Thanks a lot Tissa for the appreciation. I value your suggestion about adding the video. However, in my opinion, that would be counter-productive to the objective of this Blog. I am aware that there are blogs that post both translations and the songs. Here, I have both transliteration and the actual meanings in English language for the benefit of the English speaking world. Additionally, my way of presentation is also meant for the singers as far as possible. That's why you find commas in the lines. But as stated, your suggestion is appreciated Tissa.
DeleteFully understand Sir!
ReplyDeleteI am very new to blogging and thank you for sharing some healthy tricks of the trade.
I will put your blog in my blog roll so my followers also can share your excellent work.
My blog is in 'Sinhala' which is my mother tongue and I write about golden oldies in Sinhala too.
Anyhow we have a huge community in Sri Lanka including my parents who are great lovers of old Hindi songs.
Nice to know you again Sir.
Tissa Dodangoda
You are most welcome Tissa.
DeleteRegarding the Golden Oldies, we must not forget that Ceylon Broadcasting Corporation (later Sri Lanka) was very popular in India, and as a kid I used to enjoy the various programmes aired by it. Naturally, the old songs are hugely loved by the older generation. In fact, Rafi Sahaab's live concert in Sri Lanka was attended by thousands of his fans there.
