AND NOW THE SAD SONGS OF MOHAMMED RAFI.

AFTER THE ROMANTIC SONGS OF MOHAMMED RAFI, NOW THE SAD SONGS.

Among the thousands of Romantic Songs of Rafi Sahaab, I chose to translate only some solos - in no particular order. As of now, I’ve translated one hundred (100) romantic songs of this eternal lover in my Blog. The only care I took was that these Romantic Songs should not have any tinge of sadness. Thus I did not include AANCHAL MEIN SAJA LENA KALIYAA.N and SUHAANI RAAT DHAL CHUKI which, though romantic, have an element of some sadness. Though I missed out on many other beautiful romantic numbers including TUMHAARI ZULF KE SAAYE MEIN..and JAB JAB BAHAAR AAYI.., I feel, it’s time to move on to the Sad Songs of Mohammed Rafi.

The Sad Songs of Mohammed Rafi Sahaab would reflect pangs of separation, lost love, or calamity, or pure sorrow, or loneliness or memories or even revenge (e.g. Mera dushman...tu meri...or... Guzre.n hai aaj Ishq...) Of course, O DUUR KE MUSAFIR from the 1954 flick, Uran Khatola will be a must under this category. I believe that this exercise will help us get closer to the emotive power of the great Rafi Sahaab and make us understand why he emoted a particular word in that style or how he set about changing the moods by his heart-rending emotion and the Voice which could both be Powerful as the blast of the volcano and tender as the smile of a budding flower. That's the magic of Rafi Sahaab for you.

Here’s to hoping that the Diedhard Fans of Rafi Sahaab as well as other dignified Readers/Visitors would give thumbs up to this small effort in the fond memory of the Legendary and the Greatest Playback Singer of India, the late, Mr. Mohammed Rafi Sahaab.

NASIR.
