Philosophial/Didactic song of Rafi Sahaab where he sings the Love Philosophy (Falsafa Pyaar Ka) in a charming, soothing, enthralling Voice that only he commands.
Roman Transliteration/English Translation of the original Urdu-Hindi lyrics:
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
tum ne kabhee pyaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER LOVED,
tum ne intizaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER WAITED ANXIOUSLY!
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
tum ne kabhee pyaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER LOVED,
tum ne intizaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER WAITED ANXIOUSLY!
Khoobsoorat ho magar pyaar ke, andaaz nahee.n,
YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL, BUT HAVE NO MANNERS OF LOVE!
yeh kamee hai ke tumhaaraa, koee hamraaz nahee.n,
WHAT’S LACKING IS THAT YOU DON’T HAVE ANY CONFIDANT,
dil me.n jab dard nahee.n baat banegee, kaise,
WHEN THE HEART HAS NO FEELINGS, HOW CAN SUCCESS BE GAINED?
saaz chhe.Daa bhee magar, pyaar kee, aawaaz nahee.n,
DESPITE STRIKING THE CHORDS THERE IS NO NOTE OF LOVE!
falsafaa,
PHILOSOPHY..
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
tum ne kabhee pyaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER LOVED,
tum ne intizaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER WAITED ANXIOUSLY!
kaise samjhaaoo.n yeh naazuk sa fasaanaa, tum ko,
HOW DO I EXPLAIN THIS SUBTLE ROMANCE?
yeh woh manzar hai jo, mehsoos huwaa kartaa hai,
THIS SCENE IS SUCH THAT IT NEEDS TO STIR FEELINGS,
rehtee duniyaa me.n wohee rehtaa hai, mar kar zindaa,
IN THE ABIDING WORLD, THE ONE WHO LIVES ON AFTER DEATH IS
pyaar ke naam pe, jo jaan diyaa kartaa hai,
THE ONE WHO GIVES UP LIFE FOR LOVE’S SAKE!
falsafaa,
PHILOSOPHY….
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
tum ne kabhee pyaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER LOVED,
tum ne intizaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER WAITED ANXIOUSLY!
pyaar sheeree.n ne kiyaa pyaar hee laila ne kiyaa,
SHIRIN LOVED, SO DID LAILA LOVE,
pyaar meera ne kiyaa pyaar hee raadha ne kiyaa,
MIRA LOVED, SO DID RADHA LOVE,
pyaar har rang me.n logo.n ko, sadaa detaa hai,
IN EVERY TONE, LOVE CALLS OUT TO PEOPLE,
pyaar ke parde me.n, hamm sab kaa Khuda rehtaa hai,
IN THE VEIL OF LOVE RESIDES OUR GOD.
falsafaa,
PHILOSOPHY….
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
falsafaa pyaar kaa, tum kyaa jaano,
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY!
tum ne kabhee pyaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER LOVED,
tum ne intizaar naa kiyaa,
YOU NEVER WAITED ANXIOUSLY!
tum ne intizaar naa kiyaa.
YOU NEVER WAITED ANXIOUSLY!

Greetings Nasir Saab,
ReplyDeleteIt's a real sacrilege that songs like this aren't written anymore, or singers with the calibre of Mohd Rafi aren't 'bred' either. Rafi's demise was indeed 'the day the music died', as aptly put by Don McLean in his song American Pie.
You have a fan in me.
Greetings to you too Veen.
ReplyDeleteYour observations are worth their weight in gold! The sad demise of Rafi Sahaab has taken away a large chunk of our musical existence and sort of made us orphans. Gone are the days when movie-lyrics could be a piece of poetic literature. No more Sahir, no more Majrooh, no Kaifi, no Shakeel, no Hasrat or Shailendra, neither Rajinder Krishan nor Raja Mehdi and hosts of other stalwarts whose lyrics Rafi Sahaab emoted with exuberance, passion, feel, pain and sweetness.
